My Geographic Expeditions tour started in Paro, took in the last day of a festival in Thimpu, and then headed east. for Bumthang. We returned to Thimpu via Trongsa and Punakha. For a description of the trip, see http://www.wilhelmswords.com/asia2001.

The National Museum in Paro
Iconic Taktshang (Tiger's Nest) monastery, reached by a hike from Paro.
The monastery was being rebuilt after a fire - a new road for bringing in supplies had shortened the hike by an hour.
Cooking requires more physical effort here.
Even youngsters can be seen wearing the national dress.
